5. Training
(Also see Paragraph III: Volunteers continuing into the
career path for officers, engineering officers,
      and medical officers.)

Training of junior officers of the Flight Troops, Flak Artillery, Communications, Paratrooper and Hermann Göring Tank Division consists of basic military training, service in a front line unit, weaponry school training and war college instruction.

Candidates for the engineering career path up to lieutenant grade receive the same training plus flight training just like flight troop officer candidates. After probationary period as a flight officer on the front lines theoretical and practical engineering training takes place. This training is free of charge.

Candidate training for the medical officer career path consists of basic military training, the study of medicine, war college instruction and service with a front line unit.

6. Promotion

Time for promotion depends upon wartime conditions. For officer candidates in all branches of service including the engineering officer career path promotion to lieutenant

generally occurs after two years and usually after a probationary period on the front lines. Career officer status may be granted after completion of war college instruction and based on current assessment and demonstrated ability. Other candidates may only be enlisted for the duration of the war.

Candidates for the medical officer career path are generally assigned as assistant physicians for 5½ years.

7. Salary

Salary is determined by the conditions set by each branch of service. Volunteers assigned at the crewman service rank only receive service pay. Once promoted to junior officer (Officer Aspirant) salary paid amounts to the peacetime service salary of a career officer plus free room and board, clothing allowance and healthcare.
